A second edition of the Taxon and Collections database was posted on 09 Nov 2004 (see http://crustacea.nhm.org/peet/leptostraca/specimens). The information presented represents all available label data for over 800 lots (separate collections). Currently, we are working on making (1) all known records available on-line, (2) incorporating digital images of hand-written labels, examples of which are in our Gallery, and (3) making minor improvements to the presentation of those records retrieved from user searches. Information on the holdings of all major collections of leptostracans will be presented; major holdings surveyed thus far include those at the Canadian Museum of Nature (Ottawa), Museum of Comparative Zoology (Cambridge), National Museum of Natural History (Washington, D. C.), The Natural History Museum (London), Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (Los Angeles), Northern Territory Museum (Darwin), and Zoologisk Museum (Copenhagen). We anticipate including collection information ("label data") for over 1,200 lots -- an estimate of all collections of leptostracan Crustacea known to us at this time. A flowchart for the structure of the database is shown below.

All information contained in the databases is available from the Crustacea Section at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. If interested, please feel free to contact us directly with any questions you might have on the Leptostraca. A Reference database is also available and will be updated periodically; to use it, click below or on the main Leptostraca page.
